Minimum age and foreign licence to rent in Morocco
From what age can you rent a car in Morocco, and is a foreign licence accepted? Everything to know before you book.
Two questions come up again and again before renting: how old do you need to be, and is a licence issued abroad valid in Morocco? Here are clear answers.
The minimum age to rent
The minimum age is generally 21, with a licence held for at least one year. This is the rule for the vast majority of our economy and compact fleet.
For some premium vehicles (luxury sedans, premium SUVs), a higher minimum age may apply, because these models carry a higher value and deposit.
Is a foreign licence accepted?
Yes. If you live abroad or are a tourist, your valid national licence is accepted to drive in Morocco during your stay.
An international driving permit is not mandatory, but it is recommended when your licence is not written in the Latin alphabet: it makes checks and reading by officers easier.
How long must the licence be valid?
You need a licence held for at least one year at the time of rental. A very recent probationary licence may be a problem: check the issue date before booking.
Young drivers: our advice
If you are between 21 and 25, go for a city car or compact: the deposit is more accessible and the rate gentler. Our automatic Peugeot 208 is an excellent choice to start with.
